Get ready to Shake Your Money Maker with us... We're talking about the debut album of Atlanta blues rockers The Black Crowes! This 1990 record contains some of their biggest hits, from the heart-wrenching She Talks To Angels to the upbeat jams of Twice As Hard and everything in between. We'll talk about the band's problematic name proposal, a party so wild that evidence of it isn't allowed to exist, and the ruckus Chris Robinson caused over a couple of Twinkies (a ruckus that landed him in handcuffs)! How Will You Know If You Never Try? No, we're not asking... that's the title of COIN's second album! Whether you're looking forward to the future like Don't Cry, 2020 or looking back on the past like Malibu, 1992, the Nashville-based alt-pop band will keep you Feeling (even if you Don't Wanna Dance). It's a reflective, perceptive record that expands their sonic boundaries without compromising COIN's energetic DNA. Release your wiggle! This week we're getting Heated with Beyoncé's Grammy-nominated seventh studio album Renaissance! It's her attempt to "focus on her joy," and we're getting Cozy with each track to determine where we think the Album Of The Year should have gone. There's plenty to say about her record-breaking career! We're talking about her very costly mistake, a hat special enough to delay someone's flight, and the way she revolutionized "bootylicious" forever. Connor might break his chair, but you won't Break My Soul!

NO STRINGS ATTACHED (2000)

It's Gonna Be May, and we're kicking the month off by saying "hi, hi, hi" to the boys behind Bye Bye Bye, *NSYNC! Their turn-of-the-millennium record No Strings Attached epitomizes the boy band revolution, and we'll see whether their vocal harmonies and cutting-edge production are enough to save this album from the ruin of time. We'll learn whether JC Chasez can use the Force, get some tips to cure scurvy and puckerface from a lime-ified Justin Timberlake, and talk about their troubled history with the scam artist and Backstreet Man Lou Pearlman. ELLINGTON UPTOWN (1953)

Take the A-Train with us this week! We're stepping back in time into an era of jazz, and celebrating the special birthday of someone very near and dear to the podcast... Duke Ellington! He'd be 124 this year, so we're taking a look at his 1953 record Ellington Uptown! It features some of the most complex and engaging instrumentals we've seen yet (including our longest drum solo to date), and it covers some of the biggest hits from Duke's vast body of work, including the Harlem Suite and Perdido (Perdido, Perdido, Perdido)! Are you gonna take it? We're not! And neither is Twisted Sister, the iconic hair metal band that wants to rock (Rock)! As we learn about their third and most famous LP, Stay Hungry, James and Connor are exploring the band's relentless work ethic, their genre-shaping career, The Price they had to pay, and the role they played in getting "Parental Advisory" labels attached to albums. We'll talk about the time they told Pee-Wee Herman to Burn In Hell, the buildings they looted, and Dee Snider's affinity for Broadway this week. We're having a Record Year so far, and we're keeping the Round Here Buzz coming with Eric Church's fifth album, Mr. Misunderstood! Written, recorded, and released in just 70 days, this record is a prime example of the Chief's raw, neo-Outlaw Country sound and lyrical wordplay that tells a captivating story with each new turn of phrase. James and Connor are learning about his unique practice of "nounification," the sawdust (with attitude) that runs through his veins, and why he got fired for telling people to go to sleep without knives. the low end theory (1991)

It's like Butter, baby! James and Connor are kickin' it (yes, we can) with A Tribe Called Quest and their sophomore record, The Low End Theory! Aside from being one of the most renowned and transformational records in hip-hop, the album features breakout moments for Phife Dawg and Busta Rhymes, as well as stellar sampling and production from Q-Tip. In 2005 Sufjan Stevens put out the second (and final) album of his ambitious 50 States Project, a 22-track tribute to the Midwest's "center of gravity," Illinois! Months of research went into this entirely self-made record that's basically a massive history lesson told through song. Stevens pays tribute to the state's greatest cities, notable individuals, and significant events, from the Black Hawk War and the World's Fair to serial killer John Wayne Gacy, Jr. and President Abraham Lincoln. i PUT A SPELL ON YOU (1965)

Nina Simone has us Feeling Good this week with her twelfth studio album, I Put A Spell On You! She's come to be known as the High Priestess Of Soul, and for good reason -- her classically-trained piano playing and expressive vocals lend themselves perfectly to the soulful R&B and jazz music she chose to sing. As a vocal figure during the Civil Rights Movement she helped give rise to the protest song as a tool and art form, and her career was fraught with turbulence from within and without.
